In addition, it does not seem to function differently from Chaoseater and its power is tied to the story instead of the gameplay.
Unlike the Chaoseater, however, it cannot be equipped with Enhancement and once obtained it replaces the Chaoseater and cannot be changed back. The Armageddon Blade is regarded as the ultimate weapon in the game and is the only weapon powerful enough to kill the Destroyer. Laughing off the Watcher's threats, Uriel used the fallen Armageddon blade to impale War, strike down the Watcher and shatter the seventh seal not only reviving War from death free of the council's machinations but also summoning his siblings to earth. No sooner was Abaddon dead that War's warden The Watcher enacted his betrayal forcing the horseman to his knees and sadistically informing him that the Council was not done with him yet. With the weapon completed, War sought out Azrael who in turn took him directly to Abaddon's lair where War and the leader of Earth's demons engaged in a brutal melee, forcing the demonic angel into his humanoid form and before being impaled on the weapon of the end war. Reforging the blade on the other hand was a more difficult feat requiring War to seek the expertise of Ulthane for the task. Using the Mask of Shadows, War could peer into the Shadow Realm to snatch up the blade fragments in a variety of locations throughout the game. War began the search for the shards of the Armageddon Blade after receiving a vision from the Tree of Knowledge informing him he would need it to defeat Abaddon. After Azrael used the sword to destroy the first six seals, Abaddon shattered the sword and as the Destroyer scattered the fragments throughout the Destroyed City, hiding them in the Shadow Realm. The Armageddon Blade was forged by Ulthane at the request of Abaddon as part of his plan to destroy six of the Seven Seals to start the Apocalypse early without the Horsemen interfering as part of his plan to win the war against Hell.
